“You’re in a band.  You’ve got Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and SoundCloud… now what?”

As more musicians take the DIY approach to releasing their music, marketing skills are becoming a necessary requirement for all artists.  Musicians need to understand the principles of music marketing so they can find their audience in a crowded marketplace and earn money from music, merchandise and gigs.

In an entertaining and insightful presentation, successful independent artist and music marketing blogger Sheldon Southworth highlights the marketing essentials that musicians need to know, as well as the techniques that can be used to achieve success.

Topics covered include:

The most effective ways for DIY musicians to get discovered and promote their music,
How to use social media effectively,
How to turn a band into a ‘brand’, and
A typical marketing plan for a DIY music release.
This event is run by the MU in conjunction with Tees Music Alliance, and is open to both members and non-members. It is free to attend but you will need to register below.

If you have any questions please call Hannah Senior at the North of England Regional Office on 0161 233 4004 or email manchester@themu.org.
