With the festive season fast approaching, many of our readers will no doubt be pondering over that age-old annual dilemma: what on earth should I buy them this year!? So no matter whether you’re shopping for a musically inclined loved one, or just fishing for ideas to fill your own stocking, we’ve put together a few ideas to get you started.
PGA181
This year Shure launched the new PG Alta Range of microphones. With a slick new all black look, every model in the range is of professional standard for recording and performance; they also come at prices that will make you want to dance around the Christmas tree rather than weep into your mulled beverage!
The reason we’re recommending this microphone is that it can do pretty much anything, and by that we mean it is a genuine multi-purpose cardioid condenser microphone. Therefore, it can be used on acoustic instruments, guitar amps, vocals and percussion. All for a mere £89
MV51
Shure also launched a range of digital microphones in 2015, called Motiv. There are a total of 5 models in the range, and all have an extremely slick modern design. We’ve picked out the MV51 for you, once again for its diverse ability. The MV51 differs as a multi-purpose mic to the aforementioned PGA181 since it is a USB microphone and therefore is more suited to home recording. The beauty of this particular mic is that it comes with five onboard DSP modes (speech, singing, quiet/instrument, loud/band, flat) so you can use it for pretty much anything from podcasting to recording a jam with your band.
With vintage styling and all-metal construction we think this microphone is a bargain at £159.
SRH840
Who doesn’t love a good pair of headphones?
The Shure SRH840’s are perfect for studio production and hi-fi use alike. They have a precisely tailored frequency response to deliver rich bass, clear mid-range and extended highs….oh, and they’ve just had a price drop in time for Christmas, with the RRP on them now only £99.
SE425
There isn’t much to be said about the SE425’s that hasn’t been said already. We should at least tell you, though, that the SE425 has just won the ‘best in-ear earphone £100-£300’ at the What Hi-Fi Awards 2015……for the third year in a row!
If you have never experienced Shure’s Sound Isolating earphones before then you’re in for a treat. When you achieve a perfect fit, you can expect to block out up 30dB of background noise, leaving you alone to enjoy your music as it was intended. These really are the perfect gift for a loved one. At the time of writing SE425’s are retailing for £199.99 and are available in clear (pictured) or metallic silver.
Where can I buy these lovely gifts?
