Musical genius achieves grade 3 in singing at just 5 years old!

Singer Freddie Vokes can not only sing to a high standard and can also play piano and violin.  Young singing sensation has wowed his singing teacher and his parents by reaching an impressive benchmark at a remarkably early age.

The five-year-old from Burton Joyce took his grade three Music Theatre exam ahead of schedule and shocked everyone by not only passing but doing so with flying colours. The talented youngster, who can also play the piano and the violin, scored 82% in the test, and his music teacher said she had never seen someone so young do so well.

The Winsthorpe Primary School student said he was “very pleased” when he was told how well he’d done in the London College of Music exam. “I’m really proud because I was only three marks off a distinction,” he said, “I felt very happy and excited when I found out what I’d got.”

Freddie’s teacher, Jools Donald, owner of Julie Donald’s Music School, said what he had achieved was “amazing”. “I’m so proud of Freddie,” she said. “Many of my students begin singing lessons at around five or six years old but no one has taken their grade three Music Theatre exam at such a young age. “Freddie’s a pleasure to teach and he’s got a gorgeous, cheeky personality.”

His mother, Sarah, said she couldn’t believe he had even been entered for the exam and was stunned when she learned that he had got such high marks. The 38-year-old said: “I’m over the moon for him because he loves his music – I’m really proud! ” I thought it might be too soon but he’s surprised us all and I’m absolutely thrilled.”

Freddie says he would love to be a “famous singer” when he grows up and Jools says she wouldn’t be surprised if he achieved his dream. “You can definitely see him going on to bigger things because he’s so determined and he enjoys his music so much,” she said.

Meanwhile, mum Sarah says she doesn’t mind what Freddie ends up doing does as long as he enjoys it. She said: “Music is all about fun in our house , so whatever Freddie wants to do when he’s older, we’ll support him.”
