Singer Tim Lambesis Jailed for Soliciting Murder

Tim Lambesis, the singer of San Diego metal band As I Lay Dying, has been sentenced to six years in prison for conspiring to kill his wife.

Lambesis, 33, was sentenced in court in San Diego on Friday after pleading guilty to soliciting the murder of his wife Meggan Lambesis.in February

The couple had separated, and Lambesis said his wife had restricted his access to their three adopted children, and that he was angry about the amount of his money she would get in a divorce settlement. After apparently twice telling a man at his gym that he wanted his wife killed, he met an undercover detective, to whom he gave $1,000, photographs of his wife and the security codes for her house.

The singer’s former bandmates Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert attended San Diego superior courtroom to see Judge Carlos Armour hand down the sentence. Meggan’s father, Mike Murphy, was among those who addressed the court at the hearing, saying the family still feared Meggan and her children were in danger: “We know that prison is a great alibi for someone who wants to complete the deed.” The judge agreed that Meggan and the children should receive 10 years’ protection.

Lambesis himself said: I do feel deep remorse. I want to thank you. For her prayers, which proves you still have the heart that you do.”
