Justin Bieber Wants to Delay His Upcoming DUI Trial

Troubled pop singer Justin Bieber wants to delay his upcoming trial in Miami, Florida.

The 20-year-old singer is due to appear in court on May 5 to face charges for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver’s licence in January, but filed court documents on Monday seeking to postpone the case.

The Canadian singer’s lawyers will meet with prosecutors and a judge in Miami for a prescheduled meeting on Wednesday, during which the judge will decide whether or not to change the 20-year-old star’s trial date.

Justin, who recently reunited with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez, 21, is currently on holiday with his mum, Pattie Mallette, in Japan, where he’s been posting a steady stream of Instagram pictures.

A source told E! News: “He took his mom and a friend to Japan.”

Last week The White House has issued an official response to the petition signed by 275,000 people to deport the singer saying…”we won’t be commenting.”

Tens of thousands of US citizens have signed the petition on the White House website since January.

It calls on President Barack Obama to revoke Bieber’s green card.

The petition follows a string of controversial incidents involving the Canadian-born singer.

The first part of the White House statement said: “Thanks for your petition and your participation in We the People. Sorry to disappoint, but we won’t be commenting on this one …

“So we’ll leave it to others to comment on Mr Bieber’s case, but we’re glad you care about immigration issues. Because our current system is broken.
