Italian Singing Nun Audition Viewed 31 Million Times
A Catholic nun who sang the Alicia Keys hit “No One” on an Italian talent show has become an internet sensation, with more than 31 million people viewing her performance online.
Sister Cristina Scuccia stunned judges last week on the television programme, The Voice of Italy, with her exuberant rendition of the pop hit, dancing around on stage in her black habit and head scarf.
The clip was posted on YouTube and quickly went viral after it was clicked on by millions of people around the world.
It even prompted a tweet from Alicia Keys herself, who called Sister Cristina’s performance “pure energy”.
It went global faster than the Gangnam Style hit by the South Korean rocker Psy – 18 days after its release, his performance had been viewed by 10 million people.
