Singer Rejected on The Voice Swamped with Music Industry Offers

In a breathtaking performance on Saturday night, Bob Blakeley sent shivers down millions of viewers’ spines with his version of 1950s hit Cry Me A River.

But the warehouse worker from Stockport was left disappointed as none of the four judges chose to pick him for their team.

Judges Kylie Minogue, Ricky Wilson, Will.I.Am and Tom Jones sat with disappointed faces knowing they should have turned when they had the chance.

Will told the others as Bob walked off the stage: “This show is about people like Bob. He shouldn’t have gone home.”

Yet the upbeat granddad, who has had celebrity recognition for his big performance, has now been swamped with offers to sing professionally.

Among his best offers, Bob, who is married to hotel chamber maid Carol, has been invited to play on Chris Evan’s Radio Two show.

He said he never would have believed he would get a reaction like this.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, the 56-year-old said the last 24-hours have been incredible.

He said: “The phone hasn’t stopped ringing since the show was broadcast.

“It feels like a dream.”

For his amazing performance, he even received a round of applause from his work colleagues.

He said: “The guys at work were really supportive and were cheering me on when I got in this morning.”

Bob, who was a taxi driver for 30 years and now stacks and collecting pallets for a living in a food firm’s warehouse, has always sung outside of work.

He said he has been on the singing circuit for a long-time but nothing like Saturday night.

He said: “Being on the show was the biggest gig I have ever done.

“Before that it was singing for 300 people at a gig a few years ago.

“To have people come on the phone to speak to me and to hear all the nice things that have been said online is absolutely incredible.”
