Bob Dylan Being Probed for Racism by French Government
Singer Bob Dylan is being probed by French authorities in relation to alleged racist comments.
Classic Rock is reporting that CRICCF, the organization which looks after the interests of Croatians living in France raised a complaint regarding Dylan’s comments in the September 2012 issue of the French edition of Rolling Stone:
“If you got a slave master of [Ku Klux] Klan in your blood, blacks can sense that. That stuff lingers to this day. Just like Jews can sense Nazi blood and the Serbs can sense Croatian blood.”
The organization, who have named Dylan in their legal action against Rolling Stone, claim that the comments amount to incitement of racial hatred and break national laws.
A spokesperson for CRICCF said: “We have nothing against Rolling Stone or Bob Dylan – but you cannot equate Croatian [war] criminals with all Croats.”
While the intention of the lawsuit was to get an apology from Dylan and the publication, it has led French authorities to place the singer-songwriter under judicial investigation.
