Kylie Minogue to replace Jessie J on BBC The Voice

A show all about ‘The Voice.’ I admit when this first came out I was intrigued by the blind auditions, that looks didn’t matter and judges would listen carefully to the tone and quality of a singers voice. At the end of the day these contestants would have already have gone through at least two rounds of mass auditions to TV producers and vocal coaches and then the TV worthy contestants get to edge nearer  their dream. Whilst I don’t doubt Kylie’s hard work and longevity over the years her ability as a singer doesn’t quite match that of Jessie J. So Tom Jones, it may be up to you to hear those qualities other can’t hear again? What will Kylie bring? We shall see….

Kylie Minogue is joining BBC1 musical talent show The Voice as one of the coaches in the new series. The Australian will join returning stars will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones in the third series with a fourth coach yet to be announced.

She said: “I’m very excited to become a coach on The Voice. I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series.

“The search for new talent is such an important aspect of the music industry and The Voice gives us all a part to play in that. Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine! Watch this space!”

Minogue, whose sister Dannii had a stint on rival show The X Factor, was reported to have been approached by the BBC over a role on The Voice two years ago but the deal fell apart after she was said to have asked for a fee of around £2.5m.

The controller of entertainment commissioning at the BBC, Mark Linsey, said: “Kylie is a hugely respected figure within the world of music and will be a fantastic addition to The Voice UK. She is a true pop icon and her longevity in the industry is testament to her creative and musical ability.”

Singers Danny O’Donoghue and Jessie J have both announced they will not return for the new series.

Will.i.am said: “While I will miss Danny and Jessie, I’m excited to be returning for Season three and to work with Kylie and Tom. Together we will mix it up and bring new energy and ideas to the show.”

BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore said: “I knew the line-up wouldn’t disappoint. To secure the princess of pop Kylie and announce the return of will.i.am and Sir Tom is a really great moment for the show Bring on The Voice Series three, back on BBC1 in January 2014.”
